One thing about this Christmas that has been meaningful to me is the fact that the Lord allowed me to see Christmas in a different view.
I see the Heavenly King who was not too good to be laid in a manger bed.
I see a baby who had no ready made clothing to wear.
I see rejoicing in the Heavens, Angels singing & sharing the good news with lowly shepherds in a field. (Not someone sitting at home totally engrossed in themselves and all their wealth.)
I see shepherds who were curious enough to just get up and go see exactly what the Angels were singing about.
I see a couple of earthly parents who listened and obeyed God when he sent word to get up and move.
I see an earthly King who felt threatened by the very presence of Jesus. (The newborn King) This earthly king didn't consider that this new born baby was for a different Kingdom.
I see the Magi as really being "Wise Men" we have named them to be.
Isn't it awesome how Jesus used everyday people with NO well known name or rank amongst man to promote his arrival.
It really makes me feel good knowing he used normal everyday people like me. People who didn't even have a college education but people who were willing to be used. The Lord will use me even today. I've heard it said that History repeats itself. I'm feeling pretty lowly so maybe he will use me to spread the news of his next arrival. Jesus is coming very soon.
Before Sept.11th we only thought we were close to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. (see 1 Thessalonians 4:16) With each passing day, the news I hear on TV only verifies that we are that much closer. Are you ready? Are you training up your children in the way they should go? (see Proverbs 22:6) If you are not ready and don't want to live for Jesus now, have you given any thought to what you will do when the time comes that you start hearing the news of "people disappeared or vanished into thin air?" (see 1 Thessalonians 4:17) Have you considered what you will do if you are not living for Jesus when he has his Angel blows the trumpet? Do you think when things will get really, really bad that you will be deceived into taking the mark of the beast?
(See Revelation 13:16-17, 14:9-11, 16:2-4, and 19:20) Taking the mark only verifies to everyone that you have denounced Christ.
There will be a few who do make it without taking the mark (Rev.15:2, and 20:4) but oh the cost of gambling on it is your eternity. Heaven or Hell.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
Imagine, that little baby laid in a manger bed was our gift from God to have eternal life through Jesus! Boy, the Spirit of Christmas is getting better the more I write. Wow! I give you Jesus! (Jesus is God's gift to us and He wants you to accept his gift.)
Romans 10:9-13 says, That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Is that not awesome! All we have to do is just what that verse says and live it. Wow! As awesome as this is there are some who believe that if they called on the Lord once, that's all that is needed. Some don't believe in living a righteous life (Ezekiel 33:18) and abstaining from the very appearance of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:22) How sad. James 4:17 says Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins. This scripture clearly says "Anyone" I'm there too. Quoting a man in our church..... "Partial obedience is disobedience."
You have probably received several Christmas cards wishing you Peace, Joy, and Love. You can find a small portion of Peace & Joy in Romans 5: 1-8. A small portion of Love is found in Romans 12: 9-21 and the actions of love in 1 Corinthians 13. God's word will refresh your soul when you make time to get into it.
